plein air painter - February FEATURE artist

Kathy Cayer Daigle

Artist Statement
It was on a trip to Venice that I first discovered the extraordinary paintings of the Spanish artist, Joaquin Sorolla. I was fascinated by the luminosity in his paintings. I knew instantly that I too wanted to try to evoke the emotions one felt when viewing his work. The way the light and movement made his work come alive mesmerized me. It was breathtaking!

plein air painter - January FEATURE Phil Panagrosso

plein air painter - Phil Panagrosso

Painting is an adventure. Going outdoors to paint, whether in the wilderness, the country, a village or the city, compounds and enhances the adventure, making everything more risky, more fun and a trip into the unknown. Each day spent painting out of doors is memorable.

plein air painter - September Feature Artist - Kathryn Townsend

Artist Statement

I paint landscape, figure, portrait and still life, both in the studio and outdoor on location. My intent is the exploration of the visual/painting language in whatever way and with whatever subject matter moves and challenges me in the moment. I find the best relationship to painting is to consider everything that I do as an experiment and exploration in learning—to paint, to understand visual concepts, and to see and appreciate what exists in the world around me as well as my own vision.                                                      Kathryn Townsend

Phil paints strong, colourful panels of Canadiana with a passion for visually expressing the effects of weather on water, land and light.
