NHPleinAir Artists to hold Paint Out and Wet Paint Sale (Oct 6)

All artists who are in the area at the time are welcome to join us for
this event and the general public are invited to come watch artists at
work and learn about painting en plein aire.

WHO: NHPleinAir Artists members and any other plein air artists
who would like to join us for the event

WHAT: 1 day paint out and wet paint sale*

WHERE: Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm, Tamworth NH
* 20% from sale of each painting to be donated to the Museum
in support of their educational programs
WHEN: Saturday, October 6 from 10AM - 4PM

FEE: $5 registration fee, which will also be donated to the museum

Columbus Day Weekend is often peak foliage season, and definitely
peak "leaf peeper" (tourists who come to see the foliage) season here
in NH. The village of Tamworth is a beautiful little historic town
with artistic roots dating back many decades. Picture in your mind a
rolling grassy field with sections of rock wall. Add cows. Sheep. A
small pond. A gorgeous old barn now painted a soft yellow with white
trim. Brilliant fall foliage along the edges of the fields and off in
the distance. A white steepled church to the right, partially obscured
by 100 year old lilac bushes (which are not in bloom at this time of
year). Victorian homes on the street. Now add Mount Chocorua - one of
the most painted and photographed mountains in the world - sitting off
in the not too far distance as a backdrop to the scene. Sigh.

If you've been thinking about a trip to New England for foliage season,
come on out and join us for the paint out while you're here!
Registration form is available at nhpleinair.com

NHPleinAir Artists to Participate in IPAP Worldwide Paint Out

Here's what's been sent out to a slew of NH Newspapers, our TV station, and radio stations:

5th Annual World-wide Paint Out and Wet Paint Sale

On September 7, 8 and 9 some of the region's most talented outdoor
painters will bring their paint boxes and easels to the Concord area to participate in the 5th Annual World Wide Paint Out. The event is the creation of International Plein Air Painters (IPAP), and local participation has been made possible through NHPleinAir Artists with the cooperation of The Mill Brook Gallery & Sculpture Garden. This year approximately two dozen artists from throughout the region will participate in the event. The artists will be coming from all over NH – everywhere from Sunapee to Pittsburg to Derry and points in between – and from coastal ME and northern MA as well. Many artists pre-registered a month in advance including Sharon Allen, Joanne Beausoleil, Belle Choate, Ellen Davis, Sandra Garrigan, Michael Kennedy, Brenda Kenney, Aline Lotter, Hannah Phelps, Jeanne Pierce, and Ann Marie Therrien.

NHPleinAir Artists invites all plein air artists from the region to
join them on location from 10-4 on any or all of the 3 days:
Friday September 7 - participants will assemble in Contoocook Village
to render paintings of the dam, the bridges, and other scenic and historic subjects.
Saturday September 8 - the group will be at Dimond Hill Farm in
Concord to capture the essence and beauty of this historic site with their brushes.
Sunday September 9Mill Brook Gallery & Sculpture Garden in Concord
will be host for the day's painting and a wine and cheese reception from 3-5 PM. Beginning at 3 PM, paintings produced during the 3 day event will be available for sale and a percent of the selling price of each painting will be donated to Mill Brook Gallery and Five Rivers Conservation Trust.

The public is invited to join in the fun by watching individual
artists work and to move from painter to painter throughout each of the days, and are encouraged to come view the art and meet the artists at Sunday's reception & sale. Event organizer Sharon E. Allen says that for the artists there is a joy about paintings outdoors and that for the public this is a wonderful chance for people to see professional artists at work, developing their paintings in response to the beauty in nature. She and members of NHPleinAir Artists are particularly excited about the special nature of this annual event in which artists throughout the US and, literally, all over the world assemble in groups in their local areas to paint simultaneously on a global scale.

About Painting en plein aire
: Plein air artists seek the quality of natural light and atmosphere outdoors. Their artwork is in direct response to the beauty they find in nature. They use a variety of media, from oils, through watercolors and pastels. Plein air painting developed in France in the mid 19th century and is becoming increasingly popular. Last year's event drew artists from all over the Globe. Many new plein air painting groups were formed directly from this event. IPAP, who has members who reside throughout the World, is the blanket organization for individual plein air groups and was created for the sole purpose of advancing the execution and enjoyment of plein air painting without limitations of borders or regions. Its members share inspiration and encouragement both on the Internet and at "paint outs". They encourage other artists to get out and do it, to paint with other artists and share ideas. To learn more about IPAP see some of the many events happening posted on the website: www.i-p-a-p.com To learn more about NHPleinAir artists and their activities: www.nhpleinair.com

Workshop: Quadra Island, B.C now with W. Jamieson Adams

Plein Air Painting Workshop on Quadra Island, September 7-9, 2007 with Warren Stenberg has been changed!

Warren had to cancel his trip because of a family medical emergency, so Bill Adams has agreed to lead the workshop in his stead. Known in the visual art world as W. Jamieson Adams, Bill is a successful painter working mostly in oils. His subject matter is eclectic, ranging from landscapes to portraits to abstracts and to theatre set design. His work can be found in collections in North America and Europe. The workshop format remains the same. Visit the Firesign Art and Design web site for more information.

This workshop is part of the IPAP Worldwide Paint Out - people are invited to come to Rebecca Spit on Quadra Island to paint and meet us on Sunday afternoon to see the results!

Member News: Kathryn McMahon, IPAP

IPAP Signature Artist Kathryn A. McMahon won an Honorable Mention Award in the Central National Exhibition in Morro Bay, California for a small plein air painting "South of the Cove", an oil completed in January 2007 at La Jolla, California when she was visiting her son.

McMahon was selected into the American Impressionists Society Exhibition at Hilligoss Gallery in Chicago (Michigan Ave. Gallery), May - June 2007.

McMahon writes:
I organized an exhibition and sale for the City of Colorado Springs in August. 45 Colorado artists participated in this Multi-Media Show. Now I have time for things, I think! It went very well had over 400 patrons and 15 sales. Not bad for a 1st Annual Rock Ledge Historic Site and Garden of the Gods Park Exhibition. I was invited to exhibit in the Palmer Land Trust Exhibition and Sale for the City of Colorado Springs. I get a chance to paint large paintings 22x28 and so forth. Coming up to Niagara for the IPAP World Tour Plein Air and hope to see all of you. I will also be visiting my family and friends of over 50+ years. I will try to get them to the event. All they want is to see me. None of them care much for art as it is a hobby to them!

She will also be participating in:
* American Plains Artists show Art of the Plains 2007 - small works at Loch Vale Art Gallery, Estes Park, Colorado in September.

* Plein air event Painting the Parks in Estes Park, Colorado in September.
* St. Augustine, Florida with IPAP and LAI artists in September.
